With more than 80 homes in communities spread out over four counties, the facilities and maintenance staff at Emmaus has their work cut out for them. Volunteer groups from local businesses, churches, schools and service organizations step in throughout the year to help with tasks like raking leaves, putting down mulch, fixing landscaping, digging a driveway, painting rooms, repairing decks, and much more. Helping with a work project not only supports our facilities staff, but is often an educational and uplifting experience for the volunteers. Many volunteers leave feeling like they have gained a better understanding about community living and Emmaus' services.  Read more

Adopt-a-Home Volunteer Bryan

For Adopt-a-Home volunteer Bryan Cool, it all began nearly 20 years ago with a visit to the Emmaus campus in St. Charles. Like many others before (and after) him, Bryan’s 8th  grade confirmation class from St. John’s United Church of Christ in St. Charles visited for a few hours with Emmaus clients. That brief encounter was all it took to plant a seed that would later blossom into a friendship between Bryan and three Emmaus clients living in a St. Louis County community home.  Read more
