Academy of the Sacred Heart

Seventh and eighth grade students from the Academy of the Sacred Heart in St. Charles have been making a difference in the lives of Emmaus clients for over 20 years. Learning to be aware of the needs of others in order to create a better world is at the heart of Sacred Heart’s mission.

Last week, students wrapped up their service learning with Emmaus. The students were divided into groups of three and each assigned to an Emmaus community home where they visited one day a month from October through April. Students often brought books and games based on clients’ interests. “I’m already making plans to spend some time at this home over the summer,” shared one of the students. “The ladies have warmed my heart!

In May, students will also host a carnival at the school as a fundraiser, the proceeds of which will benefit each agency served through their service projects and other charitable organizations. #SacredHeartService #AcademyMakingADifference
